Cortney joined Morgan James Publishing (traditional, NY-based house ranked as one of the fastest growing publishers in 2017 and 2018 by Publishers Weekly) as an acquisitions editor in 2019. She
is also a writing services business owner, ghostwriter, speaker, and author—your proverbial word nerd.
Her business, vocem, LLC, seeks to give voice to stories that will change the world and has provided freelance editing and coaching services to writers all over the globe.
Cortney’s first personal book and first ghostwritten book were both published with Morgan James in 2017 and 2019, respectively. This gives her the unique ability to coach other authors through the journey of the publishing process. Cortney is a frequent speaker at a mental health ministry and at various women’s classes, retreats, and marriage conferences. In her spare time, she is a book reviewer for Interviews and Reviews, based in Canada. Cortney lives in North Carolina with her husband, two children, and a golden retriever that doesn’t retrieve named Lucas.
